Shiatsu Massage

Shiatsu Massage

Shiatsu is the deepest healing massage, for fastest relief from pain, tension and stress. This is everyone’s favourite. To receive a shiatsu one wears comfortable loose clothing and lays on a soft mat on the floor.指圧 Shiatsu is a traditional hands-on Japanese healing art, Shi(finger) and Atsu(pressure). Elbows, knees and feet are also used to press along the body’s network of meridian lines and pressure points, stretches are also applied to release blocked energy channels. A wholistic method of alleviating pain and promoting health in the whole body. Shiatsu can help in a wide range of conditions from specific injuries to more general symptoms of poor health. The body is divided into 12 flow channels called Meridians. And there is a flow of energy around these meridians all the time. Sometimes the flow of energy becomes blocked and that leads to symptoms in the body. By applying pressure to these meridians it releases the blockages. Shiatsu is a relaxing treatment and can be beneficial for back pain, stress, headaches, whiplash injuries, neck stiffness, joint pain and reduced mobility and many sports injuries amongst other ailments. Shiatsu, uses a still, relaxed pressure at various points on the body with the hand or thumb, an easy leaning of the elbows. Chi. Ki is the primary substance and motive force of life. It is most often described as ‘energy’, but Ki is also synonymous with breath in the Japanese and Chinese languages. In Oriental medicine, harmony of Ki within the human body is conceived as being essential to health. The role of shiatsu therapists is to diagnose and treat according to the principles of Oriental medicine. Shiatsu is a deeply relaxing experience and regular sessions help to prevent the build-up of stress in our daily lives.
Zen Thai shiatsu

Zen Thai shiatsu

The Combination of Traditional Thai massage and Shiatsu delivers an incredible Massageinducing deep meditative relaxation. Shiatsu releases muscle tension, aches and pains through deep slow pressure, while Thai massage openand stretches muscles and joints, removing stagnation and toxins. Both are combined with the breath and use the ancient knowledge of meridian therapy. Traditional Thai massage is also known as ‘lazy man’s yoga’. Like shiatsu the client lays on a mat dressed in comfortable loose clothing and the practitioner uses their palms, fingers, elbows, knees, and feet to apply various pressures. All treatments are tailored to an individual’s needs and if needed, the pressure can be very strong as the practitioner can use their whole body weight.

When the energy channels are released from the obstruction caused by emotional or physical trauma, postural imbalances or external invasion of pathogens, the natural healing mechanisms of our body are no longer challenged and the ‘free flowing river’ is no longer stagnant. Relieved from pain, low energy and therefor gaining a feeling of well being. You will leave the session feeling energized, calm and weightless.

Remedial Massage

Remedial Massage

Remedial massage is performed on a table and warm macadamia oil is used to melt away tension, pressure is applied to specific areas and stretches are used to release tension aiming to treat muscles that are damaged, knotted, tense or immobile. It is useful for a number of problems that affect the muscles, tendons and bones.

Remedial massage is used to locate and repair damaged areas of the body and speed up the body’s own healing processes. The pressure applied in this healing treatment can either be strong and deep or gentle and shallow, depending on the problem.

Problems with the muscles can trigger or radiate pain to other parts of the body. Remedial massage aims to trace the original reason for the pain, tackling both the cause of the problem and the symptoms.

They will deeply penetrate muscles associated with the problem. They might also stretch different parts of the body.

The health benefits of remedial massage

Remedial massage can stimulate the blood supply, make joints more mobile, and help to repair damaged tissues. The therapist will aim to balance the length, tone and tension of muscles and tendons, which restores the correct position of the bones, increases blood flow and helps heal injuries.

Easing and stabilizing the muscles can improve problems such as headaches, abdominal pain, low back pain and sciatic pain.

Some health problems that are often treated with remedial massage include sporting and dance injuries, muscle cramps, whiplash, muscular atrophy, fibrosistitis, spondylitis, arthritis and frozen shoulder.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. This type of massage focuses on the muscles located below the surface of the top muscles. Deep tissue massage is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain, are involved in heavy physical activity, such as athletes, and patients who have sustained physical injury. It is also not uncommon for receivers of Deep Tissue Massage to have their pain replaced with a new muscle ache for a day or two. Deep tissue work varies greatly. What one calls deep tissue another will call light. When receiving deep tissue work it is important to communicate what you are feeling.

Relaxation Massage

Relaxation Massage

Relaxation massage is a gentle Swedish massage, that uses smooth gliding strokes to help you relax, using warm macadamia oil, and hot towels. Moving at a slow pace and with light pressure.  There is less emphasis on working out chronic underlying muscle tension, “knots” and muscle restrictions in the muscle tissue.  That’s because deep tissue work can be uncomfortable, and during a relaxation massage you just want to drift away and feel good.

In a relaxation massage, you won’t be pushed to your limits in order to get the muscle to release. You might even fall asleep!  It’s a good choice for someone who is getting a massage for the first time, or someone who just wants to bring their stress level down.

The Health Benefits of Relaxation Massage

There are many health benefits to a relaxation massage.  Gentle massage stimulates sensory nerve endings in the skin, which transmit messages through the nervous system and cause the brain to release endorphins.  These are the body’s natural painkillers, feel-good chemicals that create a sense of well-being.

Massage further aids relaxation by stimulating the body’s parasympathetic nervous system, sometimes called the “rest and digest system.”  Blood pressure decreases, heart rate slows, and digestive activity increases.

Relaxation massage also increase blood circulation and stimulates the body’s lymphatic system, which carries away waste products.

Feel deeply nurtured, as you drift away to divine relaxation.

Hot Rocks Massage

Hot Rocks Massage

An ancient massage technique utilizing the benefits of thermotherapy to provide deep muscular stress relief.

Heated stone treatment goes beyond the physical and allows you to enter a deeper sense of relaxation, health and well-being. The penetrating heat from the stones relaxes muscles, allowing trigger points to dissolve and fade with minimum effort. Some of the benefits include relief of chronic pain, relaxation and stress reduction, detoxification of the body, and relief of neck and back pain.

Each smooth therapeutic stone has been polished by the waves of the ocean. Once heated the stone is placed or glided deeply along your body with warm macadamia oil for a unique soothing, healing experience.

This treatment is perfect for those feeling in need of complete relaxation. With the warmth reaching deep into your muscles, to melt away tension and stress.

Once your muscles are warmed by the heat of the stones, they are expertly integrated into a full body massage. The mixture of warmth and macadamia oil allows for a deep sense of relaxation, taking a feeling of well-being to a new level. Please do not plan on being in a hurry after this treatment!
